Housing

Although research is inconclusive whether or not mental illness leads to homelessness, it is clear that people with mental illness are at a greater risk of being homeless.  Having safe, decent, and affordable housing is an extremely important element for a person’s mental wellbeing.  It is difficult for a person to manage the rest of their life without a stable home.

Clubhouses facilitate access to safe, decent, and affordable housing opportunities either through housing resources in the local community or by operating a housing program.  Clubhouses provide supports that assist members in managing and utilizing their housing for personal fulfillment, help rebuild and maintain independence, day-to-day routines, confidence and social networks.
